A woman in South Yorkshire has been filmed taking part in what appears to be a vicious attack on a dog, seemingly punching and kicking before it is dragged down the street.

The video has been shared thousands of times of Facebook, prompting a search for the alleged attacker, and resulting in the dog being taken into RSPCA care, while the charity has also launched an investigation.

In a statement, the RSPCA said at the time it was sent the footage: We were contacted about this incident on February 5 and an inspector conducted initial enquiries immediately to track down the woman captured in the video.

Footage was taken by a member of the public from what seems to be the window of a house overlooking the street in Penistone, South Yorkshire Times reported, with the person filming ducking out of sight of the women when she turns around.

The woman was traced and a second dog, in addition to the one seen in the video, was also taken into RSPCA care.

An RSPCA spokesperson added: We can confirm that a lurcher has been seized by police and placed under RSPCA care. A second dog, a Staffordshire bull terrier-cross, was also seized.
Investigations are ongoing so we cant give any more information at this time.

We would also like to remind the public that we do not condone any sort of malicious communication or abusive behaviour online, or otherwise.
