The CW aired "The Flash" Season 1 finale on 19 May and, as promised by stars Grant Gustin and Danielle Panabaker via Twitter, "Fast Enough" turned out to be a real tear-jerker. Even after the much-anticipated time travel, the season left fans with many questions.

After struggling with the possibility of being a nobody, while surrounded by people of great aptitude, Eddie (Rick Cosnick) proved that he is the true hero. Just as his great-great-great-great grandson Eobard Thawne (Tom Cavanagh) is about to kill Barry (Grant Gustin), Eddie shoots himself, realising that if he dies without any off-spring, the Reverse Flash will cease to exist.
He dies in Iris' (Candice Patton) arms and tells her that all he ever wanted was to be her hero. However, one cannot be certain that Eddie is dead for good because his body was dragged into the wormhole.
As Dr Wells' body was found in Starling City and the Reverse Flash no longer exists after Eddie's death, Tom Cavanagh's return in Season 2 seems a little unlikely. But so did John Barrowman's return after OIiver killed Malcolm in "Arrow" Season 1; however, he is alive and kicking even in Season 4, and also went on to become allies with Oliver, before ending up as Ra's al ghul to the League of Assassins.
Meanwhile, "The Flash" finale also featured the marriage between Ronnie (Robbie Amell) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), and the revelation that Cisco (Carlos Valdes) has meta-human abilities. This could very well be a backdoor left open by the writers to introduce super-villain personas of Caitlin and Cisco, Killer Frost and Vibe, respectively.
From the trailer for the upcoming "Legends of Tomorrow", it is clear that Ronnie and Dr Stein (Victor Garber) will soon leave team Flash and join Hawkgirl and Captain Cold, who each had a second-long role in "Fast Enough", to try and destroy timeless super-villain Vandal Savage. In fact, Ronnie's departure after marriage could trigger Caitlin to turn rogue.
On the other hand, it is still not known how trying to stabilise the worm hole will affect Barry. However, with Eddie's supposed demise, he now has a shot at making "Iris West_Allen" a reality.
