Popular Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya has been accused of molesting a woman at a Durga Puja pandal in Lokhandwala, where he was one of the organisers.
An FIR was filed against the controversial singer late on Thursday at Oshiwara Police Station, according to Times of India.
According to the report, the 'victim' was at the pandal to watch Kailash Kher's performance. Due to overcrowding, she left her seat and stood up. It is then that Abhijeet allegedly touched her inappropriately. It has been learnt the woman objected, but the singer allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.
Meanwhile, Abhijeet tweeted that the allegations were false, adding that it was an attempt to 'sabotage' his image.
The case against Abhijeet has been registered under Section 354 A(Molestation), 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The singer frequently makes headlines for his anti-Pakistan tweets and has sparked several controversies over the years due to his comments on various issues.
Earlier, singer Ankit Tiwari was also accused of molesting and raping his former girlfriend. He was arrested after an FIR was filed against him.
