One of Bollywood's most awaited award ceremonies, Filmfare Awards, will be held in January 2016, and this year viewers will get the chance to watch the event live with Bollywood stars. For the first time in 61 years, audiences will get a chance to attend the ceremony on 15 January, 2016, at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium in Mumbai.

"Bajirao Mastani" actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone announced the date of the Filmfare Awards this December in New Delhi. The award will honour Bollywood stars who entertained viewers this year with performances, commercially successful films and critically acclaimed films of 2015.

Jitesh Pillaai, an editor of Filmfare, said the year 2015 witnessed commercially successful films, but the quality films were the key to success. "It has been a great year for movies. While we had offbeat winners like 'Piku' and 'Badlapur' on one hand, where commercial stars invested in storylines, the success of non-star vehicles like 'Masaan' and 'Talvar', too, was heartening. In the midst of that we had the baap of all blockbusters in 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', which tugged at our emotions," Pillaai was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
