The year gone by saw some really impressive performances delivered by the fresh entrants of Bollywood. But while some sizzled, the others fizzled. Fawad Afzal Khan, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff and Siddharth Shukla are some of the names that shone in 2014.

Fawad Afzal Khan, who is popular in the neighbouring country for daily soap "Humsafar", delivered an effortless performance in his Bollywood debut "Khoobsurat", alongside Sonam Kapoor. His portrayal of the uptight Rajput (prince) has been appreciated by both critics and audience.

Tahir Raj Bhasin, theatre actor and model, stunned all with his acting skills in "Mardaani" as the kingpin of one of the biggest human trafficking rings in India. The actor featured in some blink-and-miss-it roles in movies like Abhay Deol's "One by Two" and "Love Kismat Paisa Dilli".

Easily one of the better actors of the new brigade, Kriti Sanon comes from non-filmy background and has already signed "Singh is Bling" opposite Akshay Kumar and Shahid Kapoor's "Farzi". Her debut "Heropanti" saw her play the obedient, shy yet independent girl who falls in love with a hostage, Tiger Shroff, another fresh face.

Shroff Jr put the Chuck Norris roundhouse kicks to shame with his incredible martial arts skills. He swirls, jumps, kicks, punches, and dances like his DNA is based on some stretchable element. His unique abilities make him quite a star and he was quickly signed by a few production giants.

Siddharth Shukla, the heartthrob of small screen and the Shiv of "Balika Vadhu", did a stellar job playing a smart, educated NRI in Shashank Khaitan's "Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania". Sharing screen space with experienced actors can be tough, but he pulled off the job quite well. Although Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan are only a few films old, but they do have an upper hand as far as Hindi cinema goes.

Sonali Raut ("The Xpose"), Zoya Afroz ("The Xpose"), Surveen Chawla ("Hate Story 2"), Manasvi Mamgai ("Action Jackson"), Daisy Shah ("Jai Ho"), Armaan Jain ("Lekar Hum Deewana Dil"), Mohit Marwa ("Fugly"), and Vijender Singh ("Fugly") are some of the other debutants who failed to make a mark this year.
