Ranveer Singh says Farhan Akhtar inspired him to shave head for 'Bajirao Mastani'Varinder Chawla

Ranveer Singh, who has just wrapped Zoya Akhtar's "Dil Dhadakne Do", has begun prepping for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Bajirao Mastani".

Known for perfecting every character, the actor said he would go bald for his role in the upcoming film, according to reports.

"I think the way I plan to prep for 'Bajirao Mastani' and go about things, yes I will be underground for a considerable amount of time. I have finished all my endorsements and commercials. Once I go into this zone, I want to go into the depths of it. I have a physical transformation that I have to do, I have to shave my head bald. I think am going to explore myself as an actor creatively as much as I can with this character," Bollywood Life quoted the actor.

Calling Farhan Akhtar an inspiration, Singh added that after a chat with the multi-talented actor, he was convinced he could have the tonsure done.

"After chatting with Farhan, I am definitely inspired and ready to go down that path where as a performer you shut out everything else. Also its very important to get into that mind space I can't be watching TV and being on Twitter, so I have to disconnect and go into that zone and I will be doing so," said Singh.

A period romance, the feature film narrates the love story of warrior Peshwar Baji Rao, a noted general who was responsible for expanding the Maratha empire, and his second wife, Mastani.

Bhansali's film will reunite Singh and Deepika Padukone after "Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela" (2013). Priyanka Chopra, who has worked with the actor in "Gunday" has also been roped in. While Singh and Chopra have begun shooting, Padukone will join the lead cast after she finishes off "SLAM! The Tour!" with "Happy New Year" team.

Initially, the director wished to cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Salman Khan for his dream project, but ever since their breakup, the filmmaker waited for over a decade to find the suitable cast.

Talking about her association with Bhansali, Padukone had earlier stated she was lucky to be part of Bhansali's project and said Singh and she would reunite for something better than their last.

"We both were lucky that we got to be a part of a strong love story that had strong characters and director like Sanjay Leela Bhansali. I hope whatever film Ranveer and I do next is as good as or even better than 'Ram Leela," the actress told PTI.
