Mumabi, Nov 14 (ANI): Bollywood youth icon Farhan Akhtar has been appointed as the first ever male Goodwill Ambassador by UN Women. Akhtar, renowned for his work as an actor, filmmaker and singer, will devote his efforts to promoting the empowerment of women and girls across South Asia. The 40 year old actor, who is running his own campaign against gender inequality named MARD, said he feels honored to be chosen as the brand ambassador for this noble initiative. In addition, he will also serve as an advocate for UN Women's newly launched HeForShe campaign - an initiative aimed at placing men at the centre of activism and dialogue to end persistent inequalities faced by women and girls around the world.
