According to the synopsis of the episode, a couch stolen from Peter's front lawn prompts the guys to form a neighbourhood watch group. While on patrol, Peter shoots someone climbing into Cleveland's house and is arrested and charged with a hate crime.

In the previous episode titled "Brokeback Swanson", Peter, Cleveland and Quagmire wanted to run with bulls, but tried to exclude Joe since he was in a wheelchair. However, Joe showed up in full bull-run costume when they were about to drive to the event.

As the race started, Joe started having fun, but slipped on a beer bottle can and after being thrown from his wheelchair, got brutally trampled on by the other racers and was finally tossed a long distance by the rampaging bulls.

At the hospital, Dr Hartman told Joe, Bonnie, Peter, and Lois that Joe was now quadriplegic. Bonnie left Joe because she "didn't sign up for this", and said she was heading off to a new life in Europe.

At Joe's house, Peter and the guys tried to get Joe settled into his new completely disabled life (Peter stuffed things he thought Joe will need into Joe's mouth), but found they were exhausted from incompetently trying to provide 24-hour care for their friend.

Feeling they could not take care of Joe forever, they decided to relocate him to a state home for the disabled, called the Quahog State Home, which Joe was sad about, yet understood.

When Peter told Lois about Joe's new home at the Quahog State Home, Lois told him he must bring Joe back. They went to the Quahog State Home to do that, but the nurse asked for a release letter from Dr Hartman.
