SM Entertainment's popular South Korean-Chinese boy band EXO will appear in a promotional music video of the upcoming sci-fi film, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

Although speculations were rife that the music group will be collaborating with the "Star Wars" team for a special trailer, the latest piece of news was confirmed by SM Entertainment on 5 November. The record label revealed that the nine-member team will be part of a digital single called "Lightsaber".

The entertainment agency even released a short trailer of the upcoming sneak peek video of "The Force Awakens" on their official You Tube. The one-minute-long clip features EXO member Kai flaunting his dancing skills.

The collaboration between SM Entertainment and Walt Disney was first teased by the multinational mass media and entertainment by posting a teaser image of a boy band on the official Facebook page of "Star Wars" Korea, according to Soompi.

As the new venture has excited several sci-fi and Kpop fans, they can expect new promotional projects from both the parties before the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which is scheduled for 17 December.

Meanwhile, EXO managed to top the Japanese music chart, Oricon Singles Chart, with their first Japanese album, titled "Love Me Right~ Romantic Universe". More than 60,000 copies of the album were reportedly sold out within a day of its release, according to Koreaboo.

The nine-member group is currently busy with their EXOPLANET #2 - The EXO'luXion concert tour in Tokyo and Osaka, which kicked off on Friday, 6 November.
