Toyota may have revived its successful Innova recently, but the brand evidently knows that it is not enough to stay ahead of the competition in the burgeoning auto market.
Toyota appears to be busy testing its second generation Innova and here we have a set of spy shots of the upcoming vehicle, which was caught on the streets of Bangalore alongside the current generation of the same.
The car, as can be seen, retains the same design language of the current gen Innova, however the new taillight configuration and body panels make it look aggressive and cooler than the current model. The upcoming new generation Innova is expected to reach the domestic market in the year 2016, but it looks like the company has already began testing the car on public roads.
While the new gen Innova was camouflaged, completely hiding the characters of the vehicle the new headlights, new rear lights and new grille were clear indications of the updates received by the 2016 Innova. The new Innova will be based on Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and will also receive mechanical updates. For now we do not have any information on the engine specifications of the new Innova, but rumours are rife that the new Innova is also likely to get power from a new Toyota diesel engine coupled to an automatic transmission.
Interestingly, it is not just the exterior of the Innova getting updates; the interior of the car will also be receiving significant revisions. When launched Toyota's new Innova will rival the Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy and Nissan Evalia.
Honda Mobilio will be reaching the market on 23 July. Expected to fall in the price rang of ₹6 lakh to ₹8.50 lakh (ex-showroom) ,the new offering in the MPV segment Mobilio will be offered in both petrol and diesel engines in India. Under the skin, the petrol Mobilio will pack 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol motor, which can churn out a power of 117 bhp, and the diesel variant will come with 98 bhp, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit, which powers Honda's popular City and Amaze. The engine will come mated to a five-speed manual and CVT gearbox.
