Everton and Liverpool have fought some tough physical battles in the Merseyside derby, which is always hotly contested between the two teams. It has also been sometimes referred to as one of the explosive derbies in the league.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp got the taste of Merseyside derby last season, but his opposite number Ronald Koeman will get his first dose on Monday. Both these managers have a huge role ahead of the clash, as they will need to pick a strong team, capable of picking up three points from the fixture. Both the managers have some injury concerns for the derby.

Liverpool are still missing on the services of Philippe Coutinho, who is recovering from injury, but Divock Origi has been a good replacement for the player, scoring goals consistently. However, the Belgian, who picked up a knock in the last encounter against Middlesbrough, is expected to recover and feature against the Toffees.

Though there are concerns regarding Emre Can for the clash, Daniel Sturridge, who has missed five games with a calf injury, is expected to be on the bench, and Klopp could use him if required in the final 20 minutes or so. Joel Matip is doubtful due to an ankle injury.

Simon Mignolet has retained his place in the starting XI after a good performance in their last match.

"I don't want to change each week, that was not the plan. Simon had a really good game against Middlesbrough so he will be in goal for sure. We only made the change because Simon is in brilliant shape," KLopp said.

Coming to Everton, they are going to miss their talismanic and inspirational captain Phil Jagleika at the back. The defender is suspended for one game after receiving the marching orders against Arsenal so Funes Mori will have to partner Ashley Williams. Winger Yannick Bolasie underwent a knee surgery recently, and the player is expected to be out for a long time, which is a huge setback for Everton.

"The surgery was about his meniscus, and now he has to wait for nine to 10 weeks before surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. He will be out for a long time," confirmed Koeman.

Gareth Barry, who was rested for the Arsenal clash, will feature for Everton, and for such fixtures, one needs such experienced players. Everton will need all their star players including Williams, Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, who are all fit, to shine against Liverpool.
