Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has snatched a journalists microphone and thrown it in a lake, after being asked if he was ready for his countrys Euro 2016 match against Hungary. Ronaldo reacted angrily to Portuguese journalist Diogo Torres in Lyon on 22 June.
A video shows Torres, from CMTV, approaching Ronaldo during a morning walk. He asks the Real Madrid forward, Are you ready for the match?
Ronaldo then grabs the microphone out of Torres hands, and throws it in the direction of the adjacent lake. The reporter is then ushered away by security as Ronaldo and his teammates walk off.
The three-time Ballon dOr player has fallen under increasing scrutiny in the tournament, with his Portugal side drawing there first two games in France. Ronaldo himself has wasted a number of chances in the games so far, and even missed a penalty in the 1-1 draw with Austria.
He also reacted angrily towards the Icelandic team, who are playing in their first major international tournament, after they drew 0-0 in the opening game. He told reporters after the match, I thought theyd won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end. It was unbelievable. When they dont try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition.
Portugal play Hungary on 22 June, knowing that a win in the Group F clash would put them into the next stage of the competition. The other game in the group sees Austria take on Iceland.
