The January transfer window opens in another four days, and big clubs of the English Premier League are gearing up to flex their economic muscles yet again.

Arsenal and Manchester United will reportedly battle it out to acquire Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez in the forthcoing transfer window.

According to reports in telegraph.co.uk, Arsenal have already made an enquiry about Mahrez, who is currently valued at Â£25 million.

The Algerian international has managed to impress all and sundry in the current edition of the English Premier League. Managers of several clubs are weighing a move for the Leicester City wonder lad who has been absoultely phenomenal in feeding Jamie Vardy delicious balls from which the latter has scored on most occasions.

Mahrez has also scored 13 goals in the ongoing edition of the Premier League, besides the seven assists to his name. He is Arsene Wenger's first choice in the upcoming January transfer window despite Mahrez willing to complete the season under Claudio Ranieri at Leicester City. Mahrez was linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, but the deal could not be completed. Wenger would love to have him on board this time.

On the other hand, United have lost their momentum after losing four consecutive games in the Premier League this season. They have been woeful and definitely need players with a lot more pace and skill that can threaten the opposition's defence from the wings and the midfield.

Leicester City had bought Mahrez for a meagre £400,000 in January 2014, and the player has done wonders for the club in this current season.

Leicester City coach Claudio Ranieri has insisted that no one can buy Mahrez or his goal-scoring-machine Jamie Vardy as all the bids for these two wonderkids will be rejected.

"Nobody can buy them. They don't have the money to buy them. I don't want to put a price on them. For me they don't have a price," Ranieri told reporters.
