The 2015 Emmy Awards are set to take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on 20 September. Andy Samberg will be hosting the ceremony, where shows such as Game of Thrones, Downton Abbey and House of Cards will all be in contention for the main awards.

Ahead of the awards, IBTimes UK entertainment reporters Alicia Adejobi and Amy West predict who will be the big winners on the night.

Outstanding Drama Series

Alicia: I feel Game of Thrones is the Leonardo DiCaprio of the Emmys. Its always nominated and never wins. Its one of the shows that everyone talks about for weeks after the episodes aired.

Its one of the highest-rated shows on TV. And after five seasons I think that its time it won the award.

Amy: Any show other than the Emmys, Game of Thrones would win. But they prefer high-brow drama and dont really go for fantasy, so Im going to opt for Mad Men. Its the kind of drama that they like and I think that it warrants the accolade.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series

Amy: I would normally say Kevin Spacey as he gives an amazing performance in House of Cards. But he did win it last year and so I think it will go to Mad Men actor John Hamm. He hasnt actually won an Emmy for his portrayal of Don Draper before so I think that he might take it.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series

Alicia: Personally I would love Taraji P. Henson to get it as I am a huge fan of Empire and I think this has been her year. But Robin Wright hasnt won an Emmy for her performance in House of Cards before and I think for her to win would be more than well-deserved. Shes absolutely incredible as Claire Underwood and I think its about time she won the award.

Outstanding Comedy Series

Alicia: I personally would go for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. I think it was an unexpected standout hit for Netflix. Tina Feys writing is really sharp and the comedy is just amazing.

Amy: Netflix has dominated the nominations so I think it has potential to win. But I would opt for Parks and Recreation. Like Mad Men it ended this year and it warrants the accolade.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series

Alicia: I think Jeffrey Tambor has got this one in the bag. Transparent is a new show highlighting transgender issues, which have been a huge talking point of 2015. And hes received amazing reviews for his performance.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series

Amy: Its been Amy Schumers year and Trainwreck was a big hit at the box office. But the Emmys dont often go for new talent so I think it might go to Amy Poehler for her parts in Parks and Recreation.
