Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO show "Game of Thrones," has been named men's magazine Esquire's 'Sexiest Woman Alive' for 2015.

The 28-year-old British actress has claimed the title from actress Penelope Cruz, who was Esquire's 'Sexiest Woman Alive' in 2014.

The "Game of Thrones" star has adorned the cover of the magazine's November issue after being bestowed with 'Sexiest Woman Alive' title. She has stripped down for a photo shoot – posed in lingerie and topless. She even appears to have posed nude in a couple of pictures.

Emilia also revealed how she got her role in "The Game of Thrones."

"My agent told the casting director, 'I know that the breakdown for this character is tall and willowy and blonde. I know she's short and round and brown, but I'd like you to see her'," she told the magazine.

"I had two scenes which told me nothing and not very much time in which to read all those [George R. R. Martin] books," she added. "So I did what every good actor does and Wikipedia'd the living crap out of it."
