Ellie Goulding takes all the credit for bringing together two of the hottest and talented musicians in the industry.
"He's fantastic and she's so cool," believed Ellie when she played matchmaker for pals Calvin Harris and Taylor Swift.
Swift and Harris hit it off like a house on fire when they met at the BRIT Awards after party earlier this year. And little did they know that their romance will spark so rapidly that they won't hesitate to practise PDA at Billboards Music Awards.
But the two music makers may not have made it to the "hot couple" list if not for their mutual friend, Ellie Goulding.
In a recent interview with The Sun, the "Burn" singer admitted that she was the one who set up the pop princess and the Scottish-born DJ to go on a date.
Ellie said that she couldn't help but play cupid when she noticed sparks flying between the pair. "I did play matchmaker, that's true," she said.
"Calvin is a really great mate and he's so fantastic, and Taylor is such a cool person who I love. I thought. They're both really awesome and both really tall, they'll be brilliant together," she added.
Meanwhile, we all know that Taylor and Katy Perry are rivals-of-sorts. And the gangs of the two singers usually don't mix. And, Ellie Goulding is obviously considered to be a part of Tay's gang.
So, last week when Ellie and Lorde shared an Instagram photo with Katy on a night out in Los Angeles, Tay's fan army accused Ellie of betrayal.
Both Ellie and Lorde later deleted the photos. But Ellie explained her act loud and clear at the Glamour UK's Woman of the Year awards this week, reports Cosmopolitan.
"I deleted that [photo] because I looked bad in it. And I think I was a bit drunk. I zoomed in on my actual photo, and I was like, no," she explained.
"That's so funny that um, that's even a thing," she continued, adding that she does this "delete thing" all the time. "I'm great friends with Katy, I'm great friends with Taylor. That's very silly," she concluded.
Well, Taylor Swift may still want to let it go as Ellie Goulding is the reason she's dating DJ Calvin Harris.
