People have taught a lesson to those who think they can win elections through corrupt ways, actor and Jana Sena party founder Pawan Kalyan stated, after the landslide victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre, and the Telugu Desam Paraty (TDP)-BJP combine in Seemandhra.

Pawan lent his cinema glamour and principled personality to campaign for the TDP-BJP combine in AP. He has supported the coming together of Narendra Modi and N Chandrababu Naidu.

Expressing his happiness over the landslide victory of BJP at the national level and the TDP-BJP combine in Seemandhra, Pawan stated that the Congress has been wiped out in this elections, due to its doublespeak attitude. This year's elections have been a slap in the face of those politicians who spoiled the lives of people, he added.

The actor said he hopes both Modi and Naidu will give an able government to the people at national-level and state-level respectively.

Pawan worked with Modi and Naidu to root out Congress, the grand old party of India, from Andhra Pradesh. He said that the "policy of robbery" which prevailed in the country during the last 10 years (read as Congress-led UPA rule) had pained him.

The actor also congratulated K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) president, who is poised to become the first Chief Minister of the new Telangana state. He made it clear that he has no personal grudge against anybody in politics.

Meanwhile, actress Vijayashanthi, who defected from TRS to the Congress just before the elections were announced, was defeated by TRS candidate Padma Devender Reddy in the Medak Lok Sabha constituency. J Geeta Reddy, another Congress leader from the area, has won the Jaheerabad reserved constituency by defeating TRS candidate K Manikya Rao.

Meanwhile, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah stated that he is taking the responsibility for the party's defeat in Telangana. He told the media that he respects the people's verdict.
