Youth icon Dulquer Salmaan, who enjoys a huge fan following in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, celebrates his 30th birthday on July 28, 2016. The special day of the actor began with the launch of his official website, which crashed within hours owing to the huge traffic on Thursday morning. As a treat to his fans of his birthday, Dulquer has also released the first-look poster of the upcoming as-yet untitled movie from Amal Neerad that carries the tag-line "Some heroes are real."
Journey from 'Second Show' to 'Kammatipaadam'
Dulquer began his acting career with debutant director Srinath Rajendran's 2012 movie "Second Show," in which he played the role of a criminal, Hari Lal. However, it was Anwar Rasheed's blockbuster "Ustad Hotel," which changed his career graph, making him one of the popular young stars of Mollywood. He received appreciation from all quarters for his performance as Faizy in the family entertainer, which also starred Thilakan, Nithya Menen and Siddique in main roles. Later, he became part of the superhit Malayalam films, "ABCD: American-Born Confused Desi," "Bangalore Days," "Vikramadithyan," "Charlie," "Kali" and "Kammatipaadam," among others. He has also made a mark in the Tamil industry with Mani Ratnam's "Ok Kanmani" and Balaji Mohan's "Vaayai Moodi Pesavum."
Dulquer won the Filmfare Best Debutant Actor award for his performance in the crime thriller, "Second Show." He bagged the prestigious Kerala State Film Best Actor Award for portraying the titular character in Martin Prakkat's blockbuster movie "Charlie," which won eight state awards in 2014. For the critically-acclaimed Ranjith-directed film "Njaan," the actor won the Ramu Kariat Movie Award, the Filmfare Award, the South Indian International Movie Award and the Thikkurissy Award under the best actor category.

Dulquer is the Mollywood celebrity with the highest number of followers on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. The "OK Kanmani" actor is the only Malayalam actor who has more than four million followers on Facebook, ahead of Nivin Pauly, Mohanlal and even his father, Mammootty. He is also followed by more than four lakh twitterati and six lakh Instagram users.
Box office hits
In an acting career spanning four years, DQ has delivered many superhits at the Kerala box office, including his back-to-back blockbusters "Charlie," "Kali" and "Kammatipaadam." While Martin Prakkat and Sameer Thahir's movies earned more than Rs. 2 crore on the opening day, Rajeev Ravi-directed film collected Rs. 1.52 crore on the first day of its theatrical run in Kerala. All these movies have also crossed the Rs. 10 crore mark, becoming the highest grossing films of the youth icon.
