Venkatesh's "Drushyam" has turned out to be a super hit at the box office.

The film has minted ₹20 crore in its full run at the worldwide box office, according to Andhraboxoffice.

"Drushyam", a remake of Mohanlal's Malayalam film "Drishyam", received positive responses from the critics. The audience also seems to have been impressed with the film, which is evident from its collections.

Directed by Sripriya, "Drushyam" is a family thriller flick with Venkatesh and Meena in lead roles. The film is about how a father saves his wife and daughter, who have committed a crime. Venkatesh won accolades for his performance in the film, which is not a regular commercial entertainer.

The Malayalam version of the film, which hit the screens in 2013, turned out to be a huge hit at the box office. It was then remade in Kannada as "Drishya" with Ravichandran and Navya Nair in the lead roles. The film also did well at the box office and with the Telugu version also being successful, the focus will be on the Tamil remake of "Drishyam."

The Tamil version, titled "Papanasam" will have Kamal Haasan in the lead role. Gautami will be returning to the silver screen after several years and will be seen as Kamal's wife in the family thriller flick. Niveda Thomas, Esther Anil, Kalabhavan Mani and Asha Sharath are also part of the film's cast.

The shooting of "Papanasam" has commenced and is going on at a brisk pace. The shooting is currently happening in Tirunelveli and the next schedule will take place in a house in Kerala.

"After the team finishes shooting in Tirunelveli, they will head to Kerala for the next schedule. They will be shooting in the same house where the original film was shot," a source told The Times of India.

"Drishyam" director Jeethu Joseph is helming the Tamil remake as well and the film's music is provided by Ghibran. It may be noted that "Papanasam" is the composer's third film with Kamal after "Vishwaroopam 2" and "Uttama Villain", which are yet to hit the screens.

The shooting of "Papanasam" is expected to be wrapped soon and is likely to release next year.
