There's a wedding in the offing, and although this is a happy occasion, Mrs Hughes' (Phyllis Logan) spirits are down. The bride-to-be is unhappy at the prospect of having her wedding ceremony dictated by the eldest of the Crawley daughters, Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery). In Season 6 Episode 3, will Mrs Hughes have the wedding of her dreams? Or will she bow down to the ideas enforced upon her by her employers?

From the promo, we can safely predict the anticipated wedding of Mr Carson and Mrs Hughes will take place in Episode 3. Although their courtship period has been brief and their wedding plans muddled with two extreme ideas, the butler and the head housekeeper will take the vows that bind them to each other.

In the previous episode, Lady Mary suggested to her beloved butler that the wedding reception take place at the Great Hall in Downton Abbey. However, Mr Carson's fiancée isn't happy at the prospect of feeling like a servant on her wedding day. She opposed this and instead suggested that they have an informal breakfast after the ceremony.

The two-minute video clip for the upcoming episode indicates the troubles surrounding Mrs Hughes continue. She is seen trying out a dress in her employer Lady Grantham's room at Lady Mary's insistence. At that precise moment, Cora walks in and is not pleased at Mrs Hughes' behaviour. Does she accuse her staff member of stealing her clothes?

The synopsis for Season 6 Episode 3 reads:

An issue with the wedding dress arises; the disagreement over the breakfast is put to rest; Edith meets a deadline with the help of an old friend; and the debate over the hospital takes a nasty turn.

"Downton Abbey" Season 6 Episode 3 airs on Sunday, 17 January, at 9 pm on Masterpiece.
