Just days after an open letter penned by the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy in support of fired director James Gunn came to light, it seems like Disney has now reportedly decided to meet him.

Speculations are rife over the studio reportedly discussing the possibility of getting Gunn back on board for the third instalment of the Marvel superhero film.

Gunn was fired from the Guardians of the Galaxy cast after some of his old tweets were resurfaced by a website in July 2018. The old tweets included references to paedophilia, rape and also had jokes about AIDS, 9/11, and the Holocaust. After his old tweets resurfaced, Disney immediately decided to dismiss him from the MCU.

However, Disney's decision did not go down well with many. The fans of Guardians of the Galaxy launched an online petition asking Disney to rehire the director. This not only included the fans of the superhero movie but also several high-profile celebrities, who voiced their support for the director. This was also evident after the entire cast of Guardians of the Galaxy wrote an open letter in support of James Gunn.

According to a report from ScreenRant, Disney is not going to take any hasty decision when it comes to hiring a new director for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

A recent tweet had also stated that Disney is meeting with Gunn to discuss the possibilities of rehiring him, hopefully for the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The studio is taking its time in deciding the best possible next step for everyone.

Meanwhile, there have been several speculations on Disney's next move if Gunn is not rehired. When it comes to the content of Guardians of the Galaxy, there is no better director other than Gunn, who is in direct contact with the materials of the MCU film.

According to a report from CinemaBlend, Thor: Ragnarok movie director Taika Waititi is being considered as the best replacement for Gunn.
