Malayalam film "Avatharam" directed by Joshiy is certified with U/A by the Central Board of Film Certification. The film, which has a duration of 2 hours and 45 minutes stars Dileep and Lakshmi Menon in the lead and is all set to release on 1 August.

"Avatharam" is set in the backdrop of Kochi underworld and deals with the life of Madhavan, a common man from a village. His life changes when he moves to Cochin to make a living. He finds it difficult to adjust to the life in Kochi and gets into trouble after getting involved with the underworld.

For Lakshmi Menon, 1 August is a big day as her Tamil film "Jigarthanda" is also releasing on the same day. In "Avatharam," she plays the character of Manimegha, who is the love interest of Madhavan and is an employee of an insurance company. This is a comeback film for Lakshmi in Malayalam. The young actress made her debut with the Malayalam film "Raghuvinte Swantham Raziya" in 2011. She later did "Ideal Couple" in 2012, but failed to make a mark in the industry.

Lakshmi's career took a turn when she signed the Tamil film "Sundharapandian" directed by S.R Prabhakaran. Her performance in the film won her many accolades, including the Filmfare Award, Vekatan Award, Chennai Times Film Awards, SIIMA Award and Norway Tamil Film Festival Award. She later went on to do noticeable films like "Kumki", "Kutti Puli", "Pandinaadu", "Naan Singappu Manithan" and "Manjapai."

Dileep is expected to repeat the success of "Ring Master" with this new flick. Dileep-Joshiy combination has always managed to bring big hits in the box office. This is the seventh time the actor is joining hands with the director. Their earlier films together were "Sainyam", "Runway", "Lion", "July 4", the multi-starrer Twenty Twenty" and "Christian Brothers."

"Avatharam" recently became controversial when the trailer background score matched with the teaser background score of the Telugu flick "Aagadu" starring Mahesh Babu. The team later announced that the released trailer is a dummy video and they will soon come up with the original trailer with background score by Deepak Dev.

"Avatharam" has a huge star cast of Kalabhavan Shajon, Joy Mathew, Prem Prakash, Nandu Pothuval, Devan, Shammi Thilakan, Vinaya Prasad, Mithun Ramesh, Babu Namboothiri and Baby Drishya.

The action thriller is scripted by Vyasan Edavanakkad and the cinematography is handled by RD Rajashekaran. Editing is done by Shyam Sasidharan, and the music is composed by Deepak Dev.

"Avatharam" is produced by Siby K Thomas, Udaykrishna and Vyasan Edavanakkad under the banner of Four B Productions.
