US actress Lindsay Lohan has broken through the EU referendum tension by live-tweeting the results and offering her views on remaining in the EU, where the small market town of Kettering is and her opinion on free trade.

However, Question Time and EU referendum – The Result presenter, David Dimbleby, may soon be handed his P45 as the Mean Girls actress shows (an almost unbelievable) depth of her UK political knowledge in a series of insightful tweets.

Lohan mixed fashion, geography and Sarah Palin as she promoted her pro-remain stance as the results began rolling in during the early hours of Friday 24 June. What we can tell from the tweets is that the Freaky Friday actress supports free trade but does not know where Kettering or Sunderland are.

The Hollywood star started off the evening declaring we are all people, whilst supporting unity in Europe. She quickly moved on though too to more pressing issues like asking the Independent newspapers Twitter account asking why Sunderland was allowed to drop the pound – all by themselves.

She asked for small shops to pay more attention and asking on her Instagram if Alaska-native Sarah Palin lives in Wearside. She said: lindsaylohan#besmart pay attention and work hard to buy @chanelofficial #remain wheres Sunderland? Does Sarah Palin live there? Lol

Peculiarly, Lohan did encourage a duel between the Shetland Islands (which she loves) and Sunderland. As her outbursts continued she felt the need to tell her 9.28m followers she had not had her account hacked.

By 2am, the 29-year-old from New York City felt the need to tell everyone that she loves the UK and that she is actually Irish – not American. She added: dont let me down in the UK as a loving member of your beautiful country during #hermajestythequeen s birthday time.

Only last week, the actress blamed Hollywood for the tragic death of Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin. The actor who played Chekov in the film, died in a fatal car accident on Sunday, 19 June, aged 27
