One of the highest-grossing films of 2025 is Ranveer Singh's starrer Dhurandhar, and as 2026 begins, the film continues its historic march at the global box office, with Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna leading the charge. The film has already crossed Rs 1,100 crore worldwide.
However, despite garnering accolades, Dhurandhar recently found itself under scrutiny for its political backdrop that largely focuses on Pakistan and explores chapters of terrorism.
Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna's Dhurandhar re-releases with minor edits, 'Baloch' muted
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, theater owners nationwide received an urgent communication on December 31, 2025, instructing them to replace the film's Digital Cinema Package (DCP). The makers have quietly rolled out a revised version of the film in cinemas from January 1, following new government directives.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India has asked the makers to mute two words and one dialogue in reference to Baloch. However, these changes are minor and do not affect the storyline, pacing, or overall narrative of the film.

One of the altered references includes the word 'Baloch,' which has been muted in the revised theatrical version. Another line of dialogue has also been modified in accordance with the ministry's instructions.
The updated version officially began screening today, January 1, 2026.
Industry insiders have confirmed that one of the altered references comes amid the film's broader exploration of Pakistan's complex socio-ethnic landscape. Dhurandhar examines the intersection of terrorism and state machinery through a blend of fact and fiction. While the film's core narrative remains intact, certain elements have now been altered following official instructions.
For the unversed, Dhurandhar was released on December 5. And the second part will be released on March 19, which will clash with Yash's Toxic.
