Dhanush's "Velai Illa Pattathari" (VIP) and Natarajan's (aka Nutty's) "Sathuranga Vettai" are successfully completing their 50-day theatrical runs on Friday, 5 September.

The action entertainer, "VIP", which hit the screens on 18 July, performed exceptionally well at the box office. It received positive reviews from the critics and audience also gave a big thumbs to the film. The Dhanush starrer did not have any competition from other big releases and grabbed good number of screens in several theatres.

"VIP" took the biggest opening ever for a Dhanush starrer. The film minted ₹4.36 crore on the first day of its release at the Tamil Nadu box office, according to entertainment industry tracker Sreedhar Pillai. It minted approximately ₹13 crore in its opening weekend, while its 10-day collections amounted to over ₹24 crore in TN.

The film also performed well in key overseas markets like the US, UK, Australia and Malaysia. The Dhanush starred continued to sustain its business despite new releases. The film has earned ₹50 crore nett in four weeks at the worldwide box office.

It has turned out to be one of the biggest hits in Dhanush's career. The actor has thanked fans for the film's success. "#VIP #D25 50 th day :) thank you so much folks for making it into a blockbuster. Congrats and thanks to my entire VIP team. #sameteamagain," Dhanush tweeted.

Music composer Anirudh also tweeted, "#VIP hits 50 days today. Thanks from the both of us for making it a blockbuster :) @dhanushkraja."

Directed by cinematographer-turned-director Velraj, "VIP" is about an unemployed graduate who rises up against all odds. The film has Amala Paul, Samuthirakani, Saranya Ponvannan Surabhi, Vivek and Amitesh in supporting roles.

There has been a strong buzz that the action entertainer is all set to be remade in Hindi. According to latest reports, there is a huge demand for the Telugu remake rights of "VIP" with several producers vying for the same.

The film is a complete entertainer with all the commercial elements. It is produced by Dhanush under his Wunderbar Films Banner.

The black comedy heist film is also completing 50-day theatrical run on 5 September. Directed by Vinoth, "Sathuranga Vettai" has Natarajan Subramaniam (Nutty), Ishara Nair, Ponvannan and Ilavarasu in pivotal roles.

The film received rave reviews from critics as well as from the audience. Despite facing strong competition from Dhanush's "VIP," "Sathuranga Vettai" managed to hold well at the box office. The film has turned out to be an above-average grosser.
