Dhanush's upcoming film "Velai Illa Pattadhaari" ("VIP") has received a clean "U" rating from the censor board and the film is gearing up for a big release on 18 July.

"Velai Illa Pattadhaari" is one of the most-awaited films of 2014. The film has Dhanush and Amala Paul in the lead roles. Saranya Ponvannan, Samuthirakani, Vivek, Sathish, Hrishikesh and Surabhi of "Ivan Vera Maathiri" are also part of the film's cast.
"Velai Illa Pattadhaari" first look posters, teaser and trailer have generated huge buzz and the trailer received overwhelming response from fans. The official video posted on YouTube too has also received more than 2 million views.
The songs, composed by Anirudh, have also turned out to be big hits. Dhanush has written the lyrics for the songs and he has also rendered his voice for some of them. To listen to the songs, click HERE.
The action entertainer will be Dhanush's first release of 2014.
Post the release of Rajinikanth's "Kochadaiiyaan," there has been no big releases in Tamil. The second half of the year will set the stage for big budget projects of popular stars including Rajinikanth ("Lingaa"), Kamal Haasan ("Uttama Villain" and "Vishwaroopam 2"), Suriya ("Anjaan"), Vijay ("Kaththi"), Vikram ("Ai") and Ajith ("Thala 55").
Dhanush's "Velai Illa Pattadhaari" will reportedly be the first big release of the second half of 2014. The film will not have a solo release with two more Tamil films gearing up to release on the same day. However, the Dhanush starrer is expected to grab more screens and have a wide release. Interestingly, Simbu's "Vaalu" trailer is also set be released along with "Velai Illa Pattadhaari."
Dhanush's film is likely to take good openings on the first day of its release as the actor has a huge fan following. It remains to be seen if the film's content impresses the audience and performs well at the box office.
"Velai Illa Pattadhaari" is directed by cinematographer-turned-director Velraj. It is Dhanush's 25th project in his film career. The actor has produced the romantic action entertainer under his Wunderbar Films banner. The film will be released by Escape Artist Motion Pictures.
