If latest reports are to be believed, Dhanush's "Anegan" might join the Diwali race along with Vijay's "Kaththi" and Vishal's "Poojai."

Directed by K.V. Anand, "Anegan" will be Dhanush's second release of the year post the success of "Velai Illa Pattathari" ("VIP"). The film's shooting is almost complete with just a song left to be shot in Chennai from 1 September, reported Behindwoods.

"Anegan" will have newcomer Amyra Dastur playing the female lead opposite Dhanush. The film also has Karthik, Ashish Vidyarthi, Atul Kulkarni, Thalaivasal Vijay, Mukesh Tiwari and Jagan in supporting roles.

According to reports, "Anegan" will be Dhanush's costliest film ever in his career (so far). The national award winner will reportedly be appearing in four different get-ups in the film.

This is the first time that the actor has teamed up with director K.V. Anand, who is popular for hit films like "Ayan" and "Ko." Their collaboration is sure to raise expectations among the audience. With Dhanush's "VIP" turning out to be a big hit, the actor would be hoping to continue his success streak with "Anegan." As for the fans, they would expect nothing short of a blockbuster from the actor-director duo.

"Anegan" is expected to hit the screens during Diwali in October. If it turns out to be true, there will be a huge clash at the box office as Vijay's"Kaththi" and Vishal's "Poojai" are slated to release for the festival period.

"Kaththi", directed by A.R. Murgadoss, is almost complete and the shooting is expected to be wrapped up soon. The action entertainer is well on track for the Diwali release. On the other hand, "Poojai" makers have already confirmed that the film is releasing for the festival of lights.

Moreover, Shah Rukh Khan's "Happy New Year" ("HNY") is all set to hit theatres on 24 October. The Tamil and the Telugu versions of the film will also be releasing simultaneously with the Hindi version. There is also a buzz that Vikram's much-awaited "Ai" might be a Diwali treat.

If "Anegan" also joins the race, it will be a cracker of a Diwali for the fans. But, it would be difficult for these biggies to get enough number of screens for a grand release.

According to trade experts, Diwali festival period can easily accommodate two big films. With "Kaththi", "Poojai" and "HNY" confirming a Diwali release, it needs to be seen whether the makers of "Anegan" and "Ai" will be releasing their films at the same time. An official announcement regarding their release dates are still awaited.
