Varanasi/Allahabad/Hapur/Ayodhya, Nov 6 (ANI): Thousands of devotees converged at holy River Ganges in Uttar Pradesh to take a holy dip on the occasion of ‘Kartik Purnima’ on Thursday. Devout Hindus thronged river bank in Allahabad to perform rituals at the confluence of three holy rivers-- Ganges, Yamuna and the mythical Saraswati. In Varanasi also, devotees marked the occasion with religious pageantry. Another devotee, Sushma, said earthen oil lamps are floated in the river and prayers are offered to the almighty. People in Hapur town also celebrated the full moon day. Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements were made to avoid any mishap.
