Uttar Pradesh, Nov 17 (ANI): Devotees braved the chill and thronged the banks of rivers Ganges and Yamuna in Garhmukteshwar, Ayodhya and Allahabad towns, to take holy dip celebrating 'Kartik Purnima'. Devotees in large numbers converged on the banks of Sangam, the confluence of river Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati to take a holy dip in Allahabad city of Uttar Pradesh. On the eve of 'Kartik Purnima', the pilgrims camp by the riverside and decorate the entire riverbank with earthen lamps. A devotee from Garhmukteshwar, Kishan Kumar said that bathing in the sacred river helps in washing away their sins.
