Apple recently launched its much awaited flagship device, iPhone 5S and the cheaper iPhone 5C in the markets. However, the Apple devices were mocked by a couple of rival tech giants via social media. One of the rivals, Nokia, made fun of Apple devices regarding its design, the multiple colours and the camera.

Nokia's flagship smartphone, Nokia Lumia 1020 also created buzz among the tech giants giving a massive camera sensor of 41 megapixels. Apple has however, fought back by giving iPhone 5S a fingerprint scanner, raising the bar for innovation for other tech giants.

Following is a comparison of the two devices - Nokia Lumia 1020 and Apple iPhone 5S.

Display:
Nokia Lumia 1020 leads the race as compared to Apple when it comes to the display. While Nokia Lumia 1020 sports a bigger 4.5in Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen, better WXGA resolution (1280 x 768) and more number of pixels per inch (334ppi), the iPhone 5S settles for a 4in Retina display screen with a little less pixel resolution of 1136 x 640 and less number of pixels (326 ppi).

Nokia Lumia 1020 also includes other additional display features such as ClearBlack, AMOLED and super sensitive PureMotion HD+ touch screen , which is seen lacking in the latest Apple iPhone 5S.

Processor:
Nokia Lumia 1020 is powered by the latest Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor running at 1.5 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 225 for graphics, according to GSM Arena. Whereas, Apple iPhone 5S operates on a 64-bit A7 processor and the M7 chip for graphics. Android and Windows devices have not entered the 64-bit supporting smartphone market as yet, making iPhone 5S the sole device to run on 64-bit chipset.

Operating System:

Both the tech giants will use their own proprietary operating systems. Apple iPhone will run on the latest iOS7, whereas Nokia Lumia 1020 will run on the Windows 8 OS. However, Nokia Amber update along with Windows GDR3 update might pull some market. Windows 8.1 OS is also rumoured to come in Nokia smartphones.

Internal Storage:

The Finnish product, Lumia 1020, will arrive with 32GB on-board memory storage whereas Apple iPhone 5S is to come with 16, 32 and 64GB storage, offering more options to the buyer. Both miss out on external memory.

Camera:

When talking about the camera of both the devices, Apple iPhone 5S' 8 megapixel camera with Sapphire crystal lens cover, hybrid IR filter and true-tone flash, is said to be strides away from Lumia 1020's massive 41 megapixel PureView auto-focus camera featuring Carl Zeiss lens with Xenon flash, image stabilisation and 6-lens optics.

Battery Life:
Nokia Lumia 1020 is backed up by 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery and the Apple iPhone 5S comes with a 1570 mAh Li-Po battery.

There are a list of pros and cons to both the devices. Nokia has recently shot-up with its Lumia models and has gained a considerable amount of loyal fans in the cheaper smartphone segment offering a list of innovative features, whereas Apple has been consistently concentrating on its sleek metal design, OS and under-the-hood specifications to lure its buyers.  Both have their own attractive design and looks but it is up to the buyers to decide who ultimately wins the race.
