At least 400 jhuggis (slum dwellings) were gutted in a major fire that broke out in Delhi's Mangolpuri area early on Monday morning.

"The fire broke out early in the morning and our kids woke us up. The first thing we saw were flames inside our house. All we could do was grab and kids and run," a resident told ANI.

The Delhi Fire Service rushed 28 fire tenders to the spot to douse the flames.

No casualties have been reported as yet. The residents have, however, lost all their belongings.

"Everything has been burnt down. From food to clothes to all our belongings. We only have the clothes left on our body now," the resident said.
