Amid the ongoing Nasha Mukti Abhiyan in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, police in South Kashmir's Kulgam district have busted an inter-state narcotics module allegedly being run by a couple from Delhi who were currently staying in Kashmir.
The couple has been identified as Ahdoos Khan, a resident of Madenpora, Delhi, presently staying at Khanabal Batpora, and Rekha, originally a resident of Bawana, Delhi, and currently residing in Sangam, Kulgam.
Both Khan and Rekha, who are originally from Delhi, were allegedly operating a narco-terror module in Kashmir with the assistance of drug peddlers from different parts of the country.
According to police, in a major breakthrough under the ongoing war against drugs and the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign, Kulgam Police busted an inter-state narcotics network and arrested a notorious female drug peddler along with her associate during sustained anti-drug operations in the district.
Police said the operation was launched after a naka party from Police Station Qazigund, deployed at Churrat near Kund Mode, intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Shakoor Khan, son of Ahdoos Khan and a resident of Madenpora, Delhi, presently staying at Khanabal Batpora. During his personal search, police recovered a heroin-like substance from his possession, following which FIR No. 116/2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered.
During the course of the investigation, police established backward linkages to an alleged notorious female drug peddler identified as Rekha, originally a resident of Bawana, Delhi, and currently residing in Sangam.
Acting on credible inputs and after obtaining a legal search warrant, a police team conducted a raid at her rented accommodation.
During the search operation, police recovered heroin, syringes, aluminium foil, and stolen property from a specially concealed underground hideout beneath a bed, allegedly designed to evade detection.
Police said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to supplying narcotics to more than 200 clients and peddlers across the region. She also reportedly disclosed that nearly ₹25 lakh earned through the illegal narcotics trade had been destroyed in a fire at her jhuggi last year.

The accused further revealed that some of her family members were allegedly involved in drug trafficking activities in Kashmir. Acting swiftly on these disclosures, police conducted another raid at Mir Bazar and apprehended one of her sons, identified as Sadam.
Police said further investigation is underway to unearth the entire network and identify all forward and backward linkages involved in the inter-state narcotics racket.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, reiterated that Kulgam Police remains committed to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and warned that strict legal action will continue against all those involved in the narcotics trade.
He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and share information related to drug peddling and substance abuse to safeguard society, particularly the youth, from the growing menace of drugs.
