Deepika Padukone could be seen sharing screen space with Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan in Shoojit Sircar's upcoming film "Piku".

The dusky beauty is reportedly on the verge of being signed on by the "Vicky Donor" director for his new project.

If all goes well, "Piku" - based on a father-daughter relationship - will have Deepika playing Big B's daughter. Sircar has also approached Irrfan for an important role the film.

"Deepika has heard the script, and is impressed with it. Although she is yet to sign the film, in all likelihood, she is doing it," Hindustan Times quoted a source close to the actress, adding: "Deepika's part is very strong, and that's what she is looking to take up at this stage of her career."

However, director Sircar refused to confirm whether the "Chennai Express" actress was approached for the role but affirmed Amitabh and Irrfan's involvement in the project.

"Nothing is confirmed right now. At the moment, my entire focus is on discussing the script with Mr. Bachchan. After that, I will take the second step (of finalising the actress). At the moment, I can only confirm Mr. Bachchan and Irrfan being part of my film officially," Sircar pointed out.

If the Deepika move goes through, this will be Amitabh and Deepika's second film as father-daughter, after Prakash Jha's "Aarakshan" (2011).

The actress is yet to sign her first film in 2014. It remains to be seen whether the Deepika will pick "Piku" over Karan Johar's "Shuddhi" and the long-speculated Sooraj Barjatya family drama.
