After the first teaser image of the upcoming redi-Go was released earlier this month, Nissan's sub-brand Datsun released another teaser image ahead of the official unveiling April 14. The redi-Go, the third vehicle of Datsun after Go hatchback and Go+ MPV, is based on the CMF-A platform which currently underpins the Renault Kwid.

The new teaser image shows large chrome grille up front with sleek headlamps. The vehicle features a prominent crease line running from the lower front bumper to the tail lamps. The vehicle will come with blacked out B-pillars. The teaser image also indicates that the redi-Go will feature a tall boy design.

The redi-Go was first showcased as a concept in the Auto Expo 2014. The production spec version is expected to carry minimal changes and the previous teaser image showed a silhouette similar to the concept. The hatchback was recently spotted during a test drive under camouflage in Chennai. The prototype of the redi-Go was seen flaunting new features and also sports a crossover-like plastic rear bumper. The redi-Go is expected to come with all the features of the Kwid, except the touchscreen infotainment system.

Under the hood, Datsun redi-Go is likely to get an 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission. An automated manual transmission (AMT) version and a 1.0-litre engine are expected to join the line-up later. The redi-Go is also rumoured to get a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder diesel engine developed by Nissan at a later stage.

Reports indicate the redi-Go will be more affordable than the Renualt Kwid. The Kwid range currently starts at Rs. 2.59 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.
