Panaji, Nov 21 (ANI): The curtains went up at the 44th edition of International Film Festival of India (IFFI), in Goa This year being special marks the celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema with the introduction of a special Centenary award by the central government to mark the occasion. Information and Broadcasting Minister, Manish Tewari and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the presence of veteran Bollywood stars and dignitaries lit the inauguration lamp at the opening ceremony. Tewari said that celebrating 100 years of cinema the year heralds the beginning of a new era of films. Actress Waheeda Rehman was the first Bollywood veteran actor to be honoured with the award for Film Personality of the Year. Meanwhile, Bollywood Starlet, Alia Bhatt expressed her happiness on being amongst the veterans Bollywood actors and sharing the views of stalwarts of world cinema.
