Paget Brewster, who has been appearing as a recurring character in several episodes of CBS' crime-drama series "Criminal Minds," has finally confirmed as series regular for the upcoming season of the show.

Brewster will be reprising her role as SSA Emily Prentiss and will join the BAU that needs skilled member more than ever before as one of the prominent members of the unit, Hotch (Thomas Gibson), won't be there anymore.

Paget will first appear in one of the initial episodes and will help BAU to track the 13 escaped serial killers. Though Emily is going to be a permanent member from now on, it is still unclear that how prominent her role will be.

Talking about Brewster's role in the upcoming episodes, "Criminal Minds" executive producer Erica Messer said: "We're all so excited to have Paget with us full time. The BAU family has definitely missed her, on screen and off. Having her back on set has been great, it's like she never left."

Previously, Brewster worked with Fox comedy series "Grandfathered" that she joined after "Criminal Minds" Season 7 concluded in 2012. Afterwards, she returned for the 200th episode of the series and again for one episode in Season 11.

Brewster's involvement with "Criminal Minds" has been full of interesting events. In 2010, she was offered to continue playing the character of Emily, but in a reduced capacity. As a result, she appeared in every single episode that season. afterwards, when a Season 6 pilot episode was not green lit, she appeared in Season 7 episode till her contract was up.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 is all set to premiere on CBS on Sept. 28.
