Overview

The Meringues had secured a 1-0 win in the first leg of this tie at the Cornella-El Prat last week, courtesy of a Karim Benzema goal. That victory followed a La Liga game between the two sides at the same venue two weeks ago, which again Real won 1-0, this time with a goal from Pepe.

Real have won all seven of their games played in 2014 and are the only La Liga side to do so. The recent good run of form saw Los Blancos closing the gap between them and league leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid to just one point. They also remain unbeaten since the El Clasico defeat at Camp Nou back in October.

Espanyol, on the other hand, are ninth in the league table, way below the race for the European spots but well clear of the relegation battle. They are struggling for form, having won just two games in their last seven matches in all comeptition

However, the Parakeets did gave Carlo Ancelotti's men a run for their money in both games and will be hoping for a change of fortune at the Bernabeu tonight.
