New Zealand are currently in the seventh position of the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for One Day Internationals (ODI). The form of players like Ross Taylor and Brendon McCullum may worry the team but they can't be written off.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2013 is set to kick off on 6 June with India and South Africa taking on each other in the opening match at Cardiff, Wales.

New Zealand, the winners of Champions Trophy 2000, will take on Sri Lanka at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff on 9 June in their first match of the tournament.

Champions Trophy, which is considered second in importance only to Cricket World Cup, was introduced in 1998 with South African winning the first title. It features the top eight nations in the ICC ODI rankings. The countries that will participate this year are Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

A total number of 15 matches will be played in the tournament which will conclude on 23 June.
