Vice Captain and batting mainstay of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli was on this weekend's "Comedy Nights With Kapil".
While it's always fun to watch a sportsman display his lesser known side, the episode wasn't as hilarious as it should have been. Kohli though, looked extremely comfortable on the show as he danced with Dadi and laughed away at the gags.
The episode – with all its key ingredients in place such as the Dadi's "Shagun ki Pappi" and Kapil's "Babaji ka Thullu" – pulled off a few genuine laughs and managed to make it a fairly entertaining one. While Dadi and Kohli's dance was applauded by the on-set audience, what really cracked them up was the hilarious tussle between Dadi and Palak's mother. Oblique jokes on the cricketer's alleged affair with Anushka Sharma were made, but he took it rather well.
Dadi taunted the cricketer saying she really appreciated him travelling all the way to Spain to watch the FIFA World Cup matches. To this he blushed, as according to reports Kohli was in Barcelona to meet his rumoured lady love Sharma who was busy filming Zoya Akhtar's "Dil Dhadakne Do" in Barcelona.
Ever since the show has aired on TV, #ViratOnCNWK has been trending on Twitter. The timing of the show was not-so-perfect as Kohli had just scored a duck in the India vs England test match at Lords. While the 60-minute comic caper was appreciated by viewers, Kohli's poor performance at the test match drew a lot of flak on social media.
The rumoured affair between Kohli and Sharma reportedly began on the sets of a shampoo ad campaign. Reports suggest that the two meet up often and are seen enjoying each other's company. While, they constantly deny their relationship, the batsman's expression at the mention of Sharma's name on the show opens up new possibilities.
