New Delhi/ Shimla, Dec 24 (ANI): Cold wave gripped northern India as temperatures dipped further on Tuesday and dense smog enveloped the region, forcing many people to stay indoors. Regions in the foothills of Himalayas received fresh snowfall on Sunday, much to the delight of hundreds of tourists from the plains and the residents as well. After the snowfall, mercury dropped considerably, causing inconvenience to many and forcing people, especially children, to stay indoors. The temperature in most places has dropped to sub-zero. As per data available with the meteorology department in Shimla, the minimum temperature recorded was -1.0 degree Celsius. People shivered as icy winds lashed the region and cut through their bones.
