Vijay fans, the wait is finally over. The makers of Jana Nayagan have officially announced that the much-awaited film will release in theatres worldwide on July 23, 2026.
The actor-turned-politician shared the announcement on Instagram on Wednesday, unveiling a new poster featuring him in a police uniform holding a sword. The caption simply read, "#JanaNayaganFromJuly23."
One detail that immediately caught fans' attention was the updated credit on the poster, which now reads, "The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C. Joseph Vijay," reflecting his new political role. The poster also confirms that the film's music has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander.
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan marks Vijay's final film as an actor before his full-time transition into politics, making it one of the most anticipated Indian releases of the year.
Fans flooded social media with emotional reactions after the release date was announced. "One last dance," wrote one fan, while another commented, "Finally, we are waiting Anna."
The road to release, however, has not been easy. Although the film was completed before Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, multiple hurdles delayed its theatrical release. The censor certification process took longer than expected, creating uncertainty over the release date.

More than five minutes of footage, including Vijay's introduction scene and several key sequences, leaked online even before the film received censor clearance. Reports later claimed that a high-resolution version of the film had surfaced on the internet, prompting the makers to issue legal notices and seek court intervention to prevent its circulation.
