Travel site Cleartrip has teamed up with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), facilitating booking of train tickets on the updated version of its Android app.

The users need to download the new version to access the new feature and only the Android version of the website avails the feature as of now. The app also lets the user check their PNR status.

To benefit from the latest feature, the users have to sync their Cleartrip account with their IRCTC account. Syncing could be a bit tedious as it requires the user to feed with every bit of information from phone number to address.

However, users on Google Play have posted problems in syncing both their accounts.

"Syncing of account was tested thoroughly before we pushed this version but we have to rely on a third-party API for this to work seamlessly," Cleartrip said, adding that users can connect with them on mobile@cleartrip.com for assistance.

After entering all the required information, IRCTC will send a One Time Password (OTP) and email with a link. After clicking on the link, the user will have to fill in the OTP provided to activate the account.

Although there are few glitches with the new feature, like the sync option, it brings an option of a saved profile and saved card details at a one location for booking train tickets.

The latest train feature came just a few days after Indian Railways started SMS booking system, wherein one can book train tickets through SMS. [Read on How to Book Train Tickets Through SMS].
