A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel apprehended a man at Delhi's Jama Masjid Metro station after he allegedly attempted to flee during a routine security check when a suspicious object appeared on the baggage scanner. The passenger was caught near the station's exit gate and handed over to the police for further investigation.
According to the CISF, the incident occurred during baggage screening when a dense, suspicious object was detected on the X-ray baggage inspection system (XBIS). The passenger allegedly tried to escape rather than wait for further examination, prompting security personnel to chase and apprehend him.
Suspicious substance found concealed in undergarment
Further examination of the passenger's belongings reportedly revealed an unidentified semi-solid substance concealed in a stitched portion of an undergarment kept in his bag.
Subsequent media reports identified the passenger as Mohammad Shuaib Alam, who allegedly told investigators that he lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and worked in the textile sector. He was reportedly unable to provide documents establishing ownership of the recovered material or offer a satisfactory explanation for possessing it.
The substance was reported to weigh approximately 155 grams. Further examination reportedly identified it as gold powder or suspected gold paste. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding its possession and the passenger's explanation.

The force said its personnel acted swiftly after the suspicious object appeared on the scanner, preventing the passenger from escaping. The incident highlighted the importance of vigilance during routine baggage screening at metro stations.
Passenger handed over to police
The passenger and his belongings were handed over to the police for further investigation. Reports said the authorities were examining the recovered substance and looking into the circumstances under which it was being carried.

The investigation is expected to establish the nature and ownership of the recovered material and determine any further action warranted under the law.
