2016 so far has been a good year for the Malayalam entertainment industry with many movies that turned out to be blockbusters. The industry is awaiting the release of few anticipated films that are expected to perform well at the Kerala box office upon their release in December.
Here is the list of movies that have been scheduled to hit the screens in December:
Audience have been eagerly awaiting the release of Dulquer Salmaan's family entertainer Jomonte Suviseshangal, which marks the maiden association of the young star with veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad. The movie, which stars Mukesh as Dulquer's father and Anupama Parameshwaran as his love interest, is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The teaser of the Dulquer-starrer has already raised the expectations of the audience from it. The movie is said to have been scheduled to hit the screens on December 16, however, a source close to the actor has told International Business Times that the release date is likely to be postponed if there is any theatre strike in the state.
Mohanlal, who is basking in the success of his blockbusters Oppam and Pulimurugan, will be next seen in Munthirivallikal Thalirkumbol. Expectations are sky high from the Jibu Jacob-directorial as the superstar has been paired up again with his Drishyam co-star Meena in the family entertainer. The Mohanlal-starrer, which was earlier scheduled to release during the Diwali festival in November, was postponed to December as the actor's Oppam, Pulimurugan were successfully running in worldwide theatres. The movie will now be released on December 22.
Prithviraj Sukumaran's horror movie Ezra has been making headlines ever since it went on floors as the crew were reportedly experiencing some unusual activities at the shooting location. The teaser and the song of the Jay K directorial, which stars Priya Anand in the female lead role, have been well accepted by the audience. Ezra is expected to hit the screens on December 23 locking horns with other major Christmas releases in Malayalam.
Jayasurya is joining hands with hitmaker Siddique in the upcoming movie Fukri. The actor plays as a kleptomaniac (inability to refrain from the urge to steal items) in the comedy entertainer, which will be pitted against Prithviraj's horror movie Ezra upon its release on December 23. The movie stars Lal, Siddique, Anu Sithara and Prayaga Martin in the lead roles.
