A host of celebrities have paid their tribute to Cho Ramaswamy, who died on Wednesday, December 7. Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, Suriya with his father Sivakumar and brother were prominent names from Kollywood, who paid homage to the diseased at his residence in MRC Nagar, Chennai.

"I have come to offer my condolences and pay tribute. Cho Ramaswamy never compromised his writings for anybody's sake. My heartfelt condolences to the family members. May his soul rest in peace," the ANI quotes Rajinkanth, who was very close to Ramaswamy, as saying.

It is interesting to note that Cho Ramaswamy was one of the many, who wanted Rajinikanth to enter politics. But the Tamil superstar, who was initially interested to enter politics, backed out in the later years.

Cho Ramaswamy was a lawyer by profession, but created a niche for himself as an actor before turning a full-time journalist. He founded a Tamil weekly magazine Tughlak, which was known for honest views.

He had been suffering from age-related health issues for some time now and it may be recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had paid a visit to him in the hospital a few months ago.

His death has hit the people of Tamil Nadu, who are yet to recover from the demise of Jayalalithaa. Many other celebrities have paid their tributes on Twitter. Below, we bring you their comments:
