Teachers' Day (教师节) is celebrated in China on Sept. 10 to honour the contributions of tutors. The Chinese government had officially announced it as one of the most important festivals in the country on Jan. 21, 1985.

In the 1930s, the special day was observed on June 6 and was later shifted to Aug. 27 to coincide the birthday of Chinese teacher Confucius. In 1951, the National Education Labour Union decided to celebrate Teachers' Day on May 1 along with International Labour Day. Later, China's top legislative body National People's Congress (NPC) proclaimed Sept. 10 as the official date of the special day.

As part of the Teachers' Day celebrations, International Business Times India has compiled a list of quotes by famous personalities as well as messages, wishes and greetings to be shared with your favourite teachers on their special day.
