Chimbu Deven's previous movie "Puli" did not live up to the expectations of the audience. The mega-budget movie starring Vijay, Sudeep, Shruthi Haasan and Hansika Motwani had bombed at the box office and was blamed for the poor screenplay by the director for the flick's poor performance at collection centres. Now, putting the failure behind him, Chimbu Deven is getting ready to start his next project.

As per Indiaglitz, he is preparing for the sequel to his hit film "Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi." He has decided to cast Vadivelu again in the second instalment of the period-comedy entertainer.

Shankar has reportedly come forward to produce the sequel too. He is collaborating with Lyca Productions. However, the talks are still ongoing and the deal has not been signed yet.

It has to be noted that Lyca Productions is bankrolling Shankar's forthcoming movie "2.0" aka "Endhiran 2," starring Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson.

"Imsai Arasan 23rd Pulikesi" was the debut movie of Vadivelu as hero. He had teamed up with Monica and Tejashree in the flick, which had Nassar, Ilavarasu, Sriman, Nagesh, VS Raghavan, Manorama, Manobala and many others in the cast.

The movie is about the twin brothers who are separated at birth. While the elder brother is a puppet in the hands of his uncle, the younger is a patriot, who becomes the saviour of the land.

Sabesh-Murali had composed the music, G Sasikumar had edited the flick and Arthur A Wilson had handled the cinematography. It has to be seen whether the same technical team will be retained for the second instalment. More details about the project will be revealed in the coming days.

The upcoming movie is crucial for both Chimbu Deven and Vadivelu, who have not tasted success with their recent films.
