The 2016 Chennai Open, which starts on Monday at SDAT stadium, marks the beginning of the ATP tour as it promises to be full of entertainment with some top class players of the circuit set to showcase their skills in Chennai.

Some big names from the world of tennis such as Stan Wawrinka, who has won the Chennai Open three times in the past, Giles Muller, Kevin Anderson, Benoit Paire will make the 2016 Chennai Open a glittering affair in the singles arena. India will be represented by Somdev Devvarman and Ramkumar Ramanathan.

However, India, who have always produced some quality doubles players, will depend on Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi as they partner Marcel Granollers and Giles Muller respectively in the doubles competition.

The top seed in the doubles arena has been handed to the pairing of Rajeev Ram and Raven Klaasen, while Wawrinka, who has received a bye in the first round, is the top seed in the singles competition. Anderson is seeded second.

Anderson, who loves tennis fans in India, is happy to play in Chennai.

"Although it is my first ATP event in India, I have played in the country during 2014. My wife and I had a blast in India the first time; the people are wonderful, the tennis fans are some of the best, and the food is excellent. I'm really excited to be playing in the Aircel Chennai Open," Chennai Open official website quoted Anderson as saying.

Anderson, who is one of the favourites to win the first ATP title of the season, will have to play some consistent tennis and could face Wawrinka in the final. If the dream final between Anderson and Wawrinka shapes up, the former will not be afraid of the Swiss ace, who has a 4-4 win loss record against the South Africa player.
