Channel V and MTV, which started off as exclusive music channels and gradually added several youth-centric daily soaps as well as reality shows, are reportedly up for a revamp. Channel V is being revamped as a music channel and all its ongoing shows, including "Sadda Haq," "Gumrah," "Dil Dostii Dance," "Mastaangi" and "D4-Get Up and Down" will air their last episodes on June 30.

Channel V is apparently teaming up with Star's digital partner Hotstar, and all the programmes will continue to be telecast on the digital platform. "Channel V will be revamped as a youth-focussed music brand effective July 1, [sic]" a Star India spokesperson said in a statement.

While viewers of both the channels will be disappointed with the news, the official Twitter handle of Channel V, while confirming it, said they are reinventing the channel and have exciting plans in store for their viewers after the ongoing shows come to an end.

"Thanks for the love guys, but we're not going anywhere. We're reinventing ourselves as a youth music channel #ChannelVLives, [sic]" Channel V posted on Twitter. "We understand your concern about your favourite shows, but all good things must come to an end. We plan to end all our shows on 30th June. We've got exciting plans ahead, so do stay tuned for an all new Channel V from 1st July! [sic]" Channel V posted.

MTV is also reportedly planning a major revamp and may turn into a music channel. "MTV is apparently planning to go back to the basics. There is no confirmation on this, but it is going to be all about music and they will do away with their regular shows," a source from TV industry told Mid-Day. However, a source close to MTV denied the report.
