Borussia Dortmund just about managed to hold Real Madrid in a game they really should have won, while there was joy for English clubs with Leicester City and Tottenham picking up wins, home and away respectively. Juventus put a marker for this season of the Champions League with the thumping of Dinamo Zagreb on another night of entertaining action.

The biggest match of the day was the Group F clash between Dortmund and Real Madrid, the defending champions, at the Westfalenstadion. For the first 15 minutes, it looked like the home team would absolutely blow Zinedine Zidane's men away, before a classic counter-attack saw Cristiano Ronaldo bury the ball into the net against the run of play.

To Dortmund's credit, though, they did not panic or feel sorry for themselves after conceding the goal, and while there were plenty of chances missed, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, the man who has been pining for a move to Real Madrid, put the Bundesliga side level just before halftime.

Raphael Varane, who was partly at fault for conceding the goal, put Real back in the lead on 67 minutes, but it was Andre Schurrle, the former Chelsea man, who would have the final say, with a thumping finish three minutes from the 90.

At the King Power Stadium, Islam Slimani came to haunt Porto again as the Algerian striker scored the only goal of the game. Slimani, coming off a five-goal haul already against Porto, added another as he headed home from six yards out off a cross from Riyad Mahrez to give Leicester their second win of this season's Champions League and a perfect result in their first ever home match in the tournament.

Fellow English side put their opening defeat to Monaco behind them by topping CSKA Moscow courtesy a goal from in-form forward Son Heung-min.

The Italian champions Juventus, who were held to a 0-0 draw by Sevilla in their first match of the Champions League season, were in the mood against Zagreb, with Miralem Pjanic, Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Dani Alves scoring in the 4-0 rout.

Sevilla, though, stayed with Juventus on four points from two matches in Group G, courtesy a 1-0 result over Lyon, thanks to a 53rd minute strike from summer signing Wissam Ben Yedder.
